Doherty not in UPN
any more... |
The
network has dumped Doherty, the lead in its new Thursday night comedy
“Love Inc.,” barely a week after introducing her at its upfront
presentation. UPN blamed the switch on a new creative direction, but Doherty
is notorious for her on-set difficulties, having previously been dropped
from Fox’s “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the WB’s “Charmed.” As of
now, the show is still a go for fall. Let's hope getting her on
"Charmed", who knows?!.

The
Season Finale of "Charmed" ratings weren't good.
"Somethig Wicca this Way Goes" gained a disappointing 2.2/4 in the
Fast National Ratings (3.1/5 in the Overnights; 3.440.000 viewers*). We
know, the competition was not easy; The "Cold Case" Season
Finale (9.3/16 Fast Nat.) and Fox's "StarWars: Episode II". But
compared to last year's Season Finale Ratings (4.6/8 Overnights) this was
very disappointing. We can only hope that next season ratings will
improve...

The cast members
of The WB's Charmed, which was just renewed for an eighth season, told TV
Guide Online that they feel there's more story to tell. "I think
there's more things for the characters to do," Holly Marie Combs (Piper
Halliwell) told the site. "There's so much we haven't done yet! I could
be dead wrong, and I have been before. But personally, I'm not done yet!
[Laughs]. I'm pretty sure that this ending [wouldn't] satisfy our hard-core
fans."

Today The WB network announced that "Charmed" will be coming back
next fall at the same timeslot for an eighth season, with Alyssa Milano,
Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan and Mark McGrath joining the cast
for a large part of the season.
"The decision to renew
Charmed in many ways was a no-brainer, because we looked at its performance
this season, and it has held its own incredibly against strict competition,
especially with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," WB Entertainment
president David Janollari told SCI FI Wire during a press conference
following the announcement.
He also said: "The performance is terrific, and we said, 'Why
try to launch something new there when we know we're getting the numbers and
our core audience in that time period?'"
McGrath, Janollari added, will be "a regular for at least most
of the season, and we'll see how that goes." It's unclear what role
will be played by McGrath, lead singer for the rock group Sugar Ray and
current co-host of the entertainment news program Extra. "That
[role] is being created right now," Janollari said. "But I
am guessing it will be a romantic interest."

Here
is what The WB has to say about Charmed in this May Sweeps:
"...ON SUNDAYS, THE POWER
OF THE "CHARMED" ONES FALLS INTO THE WRONG HANDS WHEN THE BOOK OF
SHADOWS IS STOLEN IN THE EXPLOSIVE SEASON FINALE..."
"...The power of the CHARMED
Ones reigns on Sunday nights as the undead corpses of innocents the sisters
failed to save are sent to weaken their power on May 15. In the explosive
season finale on May 22, the sisters are put in mortal danger when the Book
of Shadows falls into the wrong hands."
Note: You can see that The WB
is actually saying that "Charmed" will have a Season Finale, and
it is not saying anything about a Series Finale. But, these are only my
personal hopes and speculations...

Sunday's
new "Charmed" episode "Freaky Phoebe" got 2.3/4. It
is a bit less than before, but we have to consider that "Charmed"
had a tuff competition: the full-hour 350th episode of "The Simpsons"
on Fox. Continue watching "Charmed" and it will get another
season!!!! Final numbers: 3.650.000 viewers (270.000 viewers less than the
previous new Episode)
Entertainment Weekly has an article about a few
series' final episodes. Here is what they say about "Charmed":
Charmed
(May 22)
The WB witches have lost a bit of their mojo after seven years, summoning an
average of 3.6 million viewers each week, down from 5.4 million in 1999.
Surefire ratings boost: girls gone wild! This season ends with the trio
flirting with black magic after their ancient spell book goes missing. The
outcome is ''absolutely a surprise,'' says exec producer Brad Kern. ''I
withheld script pages from even the crew. I can say that the Charmed
Ones will literally never be the same. Literally.''
>source: EW.com
Last Sunday, "Charmed" reached 2.4/4 (fast national ratings),
3.920.000 viewers, that's 0.4 more than last week's. Keep on watching Charmed, because more
rating means one more season!!!!

Feher) plan to make the sisters vulnerable so that he can
take control of the Book of Shadows starts to work when Phoebe is left guilt-ridden when a classmate is brutally killed in front of her and comes
back from the dead to blame her. Also part of Zankou's plan, Paige is
devastated when she finds her new charge dead and realizes she was powerless
to save her. Realizing that Zankou was behind the deaths, Piper, Phoebe and
Paige go after the Alchemist (guest star John Kassir), who is helping Zankou, and are confronted by all the undead innocents they were unable to
save over the last seven years, allowing Zankou to take the Book of Shadows
without the sisters knowing.

Two,
in my personal opinion, creat articles! The first one is about
"Charmed"´s Season/Series Finale. Brad Kerns talks about what it
seems to be a great episode.
And the second article is an interview done by Zap2it at the
"Charmed"´s wrap party. There the girls seem to be very
dissapointed and almost ungry with The WB network. And it is wonderfull to
read how they fight for us, the fans. Again, they are telling all of
us to keep watching the show, we need to make the WB Network that
"Charmed" is still alive, so keep telling people to watch the
show, and YOU don't forget also... >>"If
they all tune in and watch the last couple episodes, I believe that'll raise
our numbers enough to push us over the edge and force The WB to pick us up
for an 8th season."<< Brad Kern

"Charmed" episode got 2.1/4 for the night (Overnights: 3.2/ 5;
Viewers: 3.16 million; A18-49: 1.5/ 4). Not very good numbers compared to
the 150th episode. But don't forget, keep telling people to watch
"Charmed", specially in this weeks as the The WB network is about
to decide if "Charmed" will stay one more year. Try not to miss
any episodes...
Here
we have some information about
the Season/Series Finale episode. Alyssa Milano posted this on Safesearching:
"(...) We are shooting the season finale (perhaps the series
finale) of Charmed right now. In fact, tomorrow is my last day, although the
show officially wraps on Monday. It's a good episode. There are a lot of
things going on and without giving too much away, the sisters are forced to
make a decision we never thought we'd have to make. It's bittersweet. Well,
as you know, we don't know what's going on for season eight. I've heard lots
of rumors but we all know not to listen to those. The official word is that
we will not know anything until May 15th. (...)"

"Collective
Soul" playing on "Charmed" |
From
New York Post:
The dearth of variety shows is forcing rock bands of all stripes to find
alternative ways to get the word out on TV — and the answer, or at least
the trendy approach for now, seems to be prime-time drama and late-night
comedy. No less than three prime- time shows, and one late- night show, will
feature rock acts in upcoming weeks. Two WB series, "Charmed"
and "Smallville," will feature "special performances" by
two well-known acts, with Collective Soul appearing April 17 on
"Charmed" (8 p.m./Ch. 11) and Lifehouse performing
April 20 on "Smallville" (8 p.m./Ch. 11).

The
"Charmed"'s 150th
Episode event started with a "Charmed" rerun that got 1.9/3
(overnights) for the 7/6c. hour. Then, the awaited 150th Episode "The
Seven Year Witch" with Julian McMahon got a little boost than regular
ratings; 2.5/4 (Overnights:3.6/6 - 3.97 million viewers) though that could
have been much more.
Tonight

Charmed Season or Series Finale Spoiler
(updated) |
SpoilerFix.com
has released the episode spoiler for this season's 22nd episode (7.22-Something
Wicca This Way Goes?), which we don't know if its going to be the season or
series finale yet. Read it here...
Episode title: 7.22-
Something Wicca This Way Goes?
Zankou is in the manor and has
the Book of Shadows. He and his men are trying to open the nexus in a
non-treathning way so that the nexus will not hurt them. With the power of
the nexus as well as the BoS, Zankou will now have ultimate power. The
sisters are at Magic School trying to prevent, from their hiding, Zankou to
take the nexus' power and to get back the BoS. An agent from Homeland
Security, Agent Keyes, drops by the police station to have a chat with
Sheridan who called him. They discuss what happened to Brody, Andy,
Rodriguez, Davidson and even Prue, and her suspicions about the Halliwells.
Keyes reveals to Sheridan that Brody put her in a coma per his orders
because they didn't want her to mess up with Homeland Security's
investigation. Will the sisters be able to not only prevent Zankou from
getting ultimate power but also prevent Sheridan and Keyes from exposing
them as witches? Darryl, leprecauns, fairies, trolls, and a vampire queen
similar to the one from episode "Bite Me" from season 4 will
appear in this episode. The episode will end in a similar way most of the
end-of-season episodes ended.
>Update:
Victor, Sheila,
Wyatt, and Chris also appear in the episode.

"The Seven Year
Witch" official description |
The WB has released the official
description for the 150th episode of "Charmed":
7.16 "The Seven Year Witch":
CHARMED CELEBRATES IT'S 150TH EPISODE - Already stressed out awaiting word
on Leo's (Brian Krause) fate, Piper (Holly Marie Combs) is attacked by
demons and ends up in a coma. Stuck in the cosmic void between life and
death, Piper's spirit is surprised to find Cole (guest star Julian McMahon)
waiting for her and even more surprised when he tells her that he is there
to help keep her and Leo together, which he hopes will restore Phoebe's
(Alyssa Milano) faith in love. Meanwhile, the Council puts Leo to the test
by stripping him of his powers and memory and placing him in an unknown
location in hopes that his heart will guide him to his true destiny, whether
it is to be with his family or the Greater Good. As Phoebe, Paige (Rose
McGowan) and Darryl (Dorian Gregory) search for Leo, Drake (guest-star Billy
Zane) does one last good deed before his time is up.
Writer: Jeannine Renshaw
Director: Michael Grossman
Now
on the ratings section you will be able to see not only the Overnights
numbers but also the amount of Viewers per episode.
And with this numbers we decided to calculate the average amount of
viewers that "Charmed" had for this last 15 episodes of this
season. The episode with more viewers was of course the Season Premiere
"A Call to Arms" with 5.600.000 viewers and the least watched
episode from this season was "Carpe Demon" with only 2.950.000
viewers. So, the average for this season for this last 15 episodes is 3.692.000
viewers.

Due to the terrible ratings that the new reality show got last Sunday at
8/7c., The WB decided to move that show to Tuesdays nights and to air two
episodes of Charmed on Sundays starting at 7/6c. until April 10th when they
are going to air the 150th Episode.
Last
Sunday a "Charmed" rerun got 1.7/3 in it's new temporary time
slot (7/6c.). This were the best ratings for The WB Sunday Night, as the
Series Premiere of the new WB reality show "The Starlet" (8/7c) got
only 1.4/2, and a new episode of "Steve Harvey's Big Time" gave 1.6/2
for the WB's 9/8c hour.
"...In series-premiere news, The Starlet on the WB was dead on arrival with
a miniscule (and, of course, last place) 1.4/ 2 in the overnights from 8-9
p.m. -- 18 percent below a repeat of lead-in Charmed (#5: 1.7/ 3).
Historically, this could very well be the WB's lowest rating in the Sunday 8
p.m. hour with an original program ever..."(MediaWeek.com)
"Charmed"
is still the show with best ratings for "The WB Big Sunday" Night, so let's
hope The WB Network give "Charmed" what it deserves, one more Season.

Charmed" - Nashville City Paper - December 22 2004
"It is doubtful any of the core trio on the long-running WB show Charmed (Sundays,
WNAB, Ch. 58, 7 p.m.) will ever be nominated for Emmy awards. Many of the
show's plots revolving around the adventures of three "good" witches are
absurd even by fantasy standards, and occasionally they seem more like
slapstick or a spoof than something that could grab an audience. Yet the
program has done so well that the WB recently announced a renewal running
through next year, taking the show into a seventh season. In addition,
daytime and nighttime Charmed reruns pop up on TNT almost as often as Law &
Order episodes, ensuring that its fans can see the show at some point nearly
every day. The complete first season will be available on DVD next year as
well. Indeed, there's a good chance that the chronicles of Alyssa Milano,
Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan might keep going until the program
cracks the 10-year mark, something that no would who saw any of the
first or second year episodes would have ever dreamed possible."

Rose McGowan is in negotiations to star in the
CBS miniseries "Elvis," a biopic of the King of Rock 'n' Roll. McGowan will
play Ann-Margret, Elvis Presley's co-star in the 1964 film "Viva Las Vegas,"
whose romance with the King during and after the making of the film created
a stir and put a strain on his relationship with future wife Priscilla
Beaulieu.

Charmed's "Witchness

Kerr Smith Leaving Charmed?? |
Dawson's Creek graduate Kerr Smith, 32, is
a bona fide hit on Charmed (Sundays, 8 pm/PT on WB). In his recurring
role as Agent Kyle Brody, he's won over the witchfest's devoted fans by
splitting his time between probing occult mysteries and cuddling Rose
McGowan's Paige Halliwell. Will this temp go perm and stay long-term? A
setside source tells TV Guide Online that Smith's expected to say buh-bye in
early 2005. Let's see what the studlet himself has to say....

Sorry Frodo, Charmed got your ring... |
Seems
that Charmed is the only show/movie that can charm The WB
Sunday Night. The highly promoted World Television Premiere of The Lord of
The Rings Part I got 2.9/4 (3.8/
5 Overnight; 4.41 million viewers and a
1.7/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m.). This
numbers are not bad, but yes, they are below the average "Charmed" Ratings.
So apparently The Charmed Ones are indeed more powerful than The Powerful
Ring...
"Someone
to Witch Over Me" got a 2.4/4 (3.6/5
Overnight; Viewers: 3.89 million). The ratings
were down compared to the last new episodes, but we have to consider that it
was a Halloween Night. Nevertheless The WB's "Charmed" beat the first full hour
of FOX's movie,
and again "Charmed" was the only successful hour of The WB's Big Sunday. (Steve
Harvey's Big Time; 1.8/ 3 Overnights,
1.98 million viewers - The Mountain;
1.6/ 2 Overnights, 1.59 million viewers)

Interview: Holly Marie Combs |
Read the article "'Charmed'
star Holly Marie Combs casts spell over viewers" from
New York Times Syndicate. It's a
very interesting article where Holly (Piper Halliwell) talks about how she
enjoys her charm job and also about the possibility of an eith
season.
"As long as there's still an interest and as long as
people are still coming up to me and saying, `I love your show,' it's easy
to stay interested," Combs says. "In my personal life my priorities have
shifted -- I have a son. But as long as I can make time for him, I'm OK."

Here
is the Spoiler of "Witchness
Protection" (7.10):
Leo, Piper,
and the kids, have a family picture taken. As the photographer takes the
picture, Leo gets a visit from the Avatars asking him to help them have the
Charmed Ones see the beauty of the Avatars' ways. Phoebe has a premonition
of an idyllic future when Wyatt is 8, Chris is 6, and her daughter (insert
the name of a past female character many of you thought would be Piper's kid
here) is 4. Other demons in the episode are a Thrull Demon and a Swarm King.
There is a bunch of demons who keep arguing but they agree on one thing: the
Seer must die. Since the sisters are protecting the Seer, they must find
Zankou (see spoilers below).
Phoebe consults the Seer to have her ID one of
her demonic friends. A Shouter Demon, a Shouter Demon, a Shapeshifter, and a
Demonic Wizard, revive the most powerful demon of the Underworld
since The Source's death: Zankou. The Source had incarcerated Zankou
but even if he was in prison, he knows about the Seer and the Avatars.
Zankou kills the Shapeshifter in order to gain his powers as the only way to
trick the Charmed Ones is to change form. He'll use the Seer to get to the
Charmed Ones. Paige is in a coma. Piper and Leo go to Brody's apartment.
